I was just wondering if anyone played Warcraft III on-line. I have every once in a while. I recently in reinstalled it and started playing the new Defense of the Ancients 5.75. That is crazy fun. I don't like regular play because I stink and I've only won twice.

I <3 WCIII

At first I really didn't get into it, in fact, I mostly hated it. I think I was so used to Starcraft that the totally different style of play in WCIII just through me for a loop.

Since then I've played quite a bit and the game has grown on me to an amazing degree, to the point that it has even eclipsed Starcraft as my favorite RTS of all time.

I'm still pretty horrible, nowhere near the skill I was at in SC, but hey, I have some fun playing it.

I'm down for doing some multiplayer for sure.

You should really try the custom game Defense of the Ancients, or DoTA, it is awesome. It's a 5v5 game where you pick a hero and you only have control of that guy. The point is to destroy the other teams Ancients. The game auto spawns a "Platoon" of npcs for both sides that run out and attack the otherside. With the lastest version there are like 35 Heroes per side each with unique abilities. You can level them up to level 25. Plus it has items you can guy recepiecs to create better items. Really cool stuff.

For those insterested go here for the lastes version.

Defense of the Ancients

Click on the piture and save in your Warcraft III/Downloads folder.

I love WC III, but I am WAY too horrible at it to play online.

I can't even finish the night elf campaign without cheating T.T

Cheaters never win!

*shakes fist*

RTS are very similar to fighting games, in that you need to really dedicate a large chunk of time to them in order to become competitive. It's not just playing, you need to watch replays, read strategies, etc...

It really is a big time sink.

I played a bit of the WCIII yesterday and I did horrible.

It's crazy what not playing for a few weeks* can do to your skills.

*few weeks = over a month

I think what he is saying is that your skills = poo poo :)

Seriously I never play actual Warcraft III games. Just to many people that are way better then me with Microing, build orders and such. I stay strictly to custom DotA -ar games. If you get in a good game the match can seriously latest like an hour and half. That to me = fun.

Seriously everyone should try it.

Zug zug.

So in order to hold off against playing World of Warcraft for even a little bit longer, I started playing through the solo campaign in the ole WCIII again.

Even if a person doesn't like the RTS genre, the story and world are just so amazingly compelling I would think they'd like it.

And pandarians!
