This hasn't happend to me in long time but probably because developers know that doing this really makes people stop playing you games. Here's a little back story.

(FF 1 & 2 Spoilers abound. You have been warned.)

My birthday was a few weeks ago and i got 50 bucks from in-laws. So I decide it was time to expand my GBA library from 1 game to 2 games. I settled on FF 1 & 2 Dawn of Souls. (this really makes my library 3 games but I'm counting them as 1 game) So I start playing FF 1 because it's been like forever since I played it. I get to the point where I beat the Earth Dungeon/Fiend. After which is a little cut scence showing the Earthgift Shrine opening up. So I venture inside and make to floor 5 pretty easy. What everyone fails to tell me is that to do out of the dungeon once in you have to beat one of the bosses. The monster that led up to these bosses are no indication of how hard they are. Many of them didn't have over 200 HP. Now I'm stuck on the 5 floor of the Earth Gift Shrine because most of the bosses can 1 shot kill any/all of my guys.

Man I'm so angry that I had to resort to going to GameFaqs to look up that fact that I can't beat 3 of the 4 bosses and I'd basically have a coin toss on beating the last one.

Thanks Square you ruined my day.

So quick update here. I decide to give the 'weakest' of the four bosses at the end of the Earth Gift Shrine a try. Turns out that when you fight one of them and they defeat you, you're sent back to the cave's opening on the overworld. Surprise. So what do I do i go beef up a couple levels and take out one of those damn bosses.

Determination for the win.

You should say what game the spoilers are for, yo.

I've been playing Dawn of Souls lately as well, I'm just about to head through the earth shrine for the second time.

I LOVE the new sprite work, so purdy.

There are four extra dungeons that weren't in the original game that have been added in for this remake, and they all have some hardass bosses in them.

I don't think you're supposed to play them at such an early level. They're not a part of the main game, and just give you some powerful items and weapons as a reward for completing them.

FYI, the bosses in the Earthgift Shrine are from FFIII, the ones in the next dungeon are from IV, next from V, and the last (and best dungeon IMO) are from VI.

Funny thing is, they crammed them full of crappy, low level enemies, so replaying them is a TERRIBLE way to get experience. Any of the other 4 regular dungeons levels you up much faster. So there you go.

Oh, and expect to get stuck, the clues as to what to do next suck ass. Like, one townsperson will have told you something vague about what to do next 20 hours ago, and you're expected to remember =/

*Barf*

Fine be that way.

Yeah, the story telling in this game is like not exisitant. It's totally unbelieve that people can recognize that you as the Light Warriors upon seeing you for the first. People are awfully trust worthy awfully fast.

If they would've just redid some of the text to make a bit more story and help keep you on track better, I think the game would hold up really well.
