You're not supposed to pull your hair out. You're just supposed to randomly grab one in an attempt to confuse the supposed demon-ghosty-thing in the mirror, that is also known as your reflection.
I think I learned something about this in grade 7 or 8, where any measurement in a mirror is not going to be the same in reality. I never paid attention to science classes much when I was younger, which is a shame considering my major :/
