Check that out, some of them are pretty dang slick.
I'm listening to the second track on the first disc right now... I'm digging it quite a lot.

FF7 is most definately one of the worst FF games, so I'm not really interested in hearing a soundtrack.
I do love OCRemix though, and their CD projects. The Donkey Kong one was AWESOME... |

I love all the FF games really.
FF7 was the last game to really "feel" like the 16 bit FFs, so I like it quite a bit for that.
I still like FF8 more than FF7 though. _________________

Well, for me FF7 just came too early. The graphics are so bad that it lost against the beautiful FF6 graphically, while it still lost to the graphically worse FF4 in terms of gameplay.
FF6 was a little dull in the gameplay department, but at least it looked somewhat nice. I heard FF7 has the kickass storyline, but the game plays so bad that I can never reach the good parts.
I still have to try FF8, but FF9 was delicious, and my favourite.
I guess I'm going to try those songs now... |

See, I feel the same way, but no one ever agrees with me! My older siblings have done the whole, "Sigh, your just the little sister in the family, We introduced you to this series when you were 4, therefore your opinion doesn't matter." - thing.
Though I have never beaten an FF game, except for FF4. I always get to the end, and am too scared to fight the final boss. :/
PS, Gil, what the fuck are you talking about? FF6 was probably one of the most amazing games ever. _________________ http://s1.gladiatus.com/game/c.php?uid=40542

I don't agree. As a pixel artist I can debunk the beautiful graphics theory by pointing to a shitload of games that are by far better looking. Amiga has a lot of graphical gems for example.
Story based the whole thing comes tumbling down like a card house in what you can call the "in-between" parts. In between the good parts, the story screeches to a stop.
Gameplay has never been a FF trademark, mostly caused by tons of aggravating random battles, and mashing the same attacks over and over without much strategy.
So, what is amazing about FF6? The atmosphere in certain key scenes, such as most importantly, the intro scene, and of course the opera scene. (I'm quite fond of the sand traveling castle too). |

Well that is what FF's have pretty much been all about. If you want strategy, then play rpg/strategy games. FF's are just rpg in their own little style, and definitely an acquired taste.
FF6 is still my personal favorite--it's got a simple story, but they executed it decently well as far as I'm concerned. And I've played it dozens of times.
BUT.
Back to the topic of the thread.

Ocremix.org is effing sweet for video game remixes. They've got some really good Chrono Trigger tunes and ALSO Donkey Kong Country tunes (The snes dkc games had some really awesome soundtracks.) |

One of the amazing parts of FFVI was the cast. I <3 all the characters. And there are so many! But seriously, FFVI = probably my favourite game of all time.
But really, it doesn't matter to me what made it a good game and what didn't. The fact is, I enjoyed it more than most any other game.

Personally, my favorite is FF4. I don't give a crap about graphics, personally. After 4 it probably goes 6-7-5 for my order of precidence (but 9 and 10 were pretty sweet). 1 will forever and always hold a special place in my heart (lulz at wasted childhood)
As far as the remix project goes, good chance i will download and love all of them. FF7 had a great soundtrack, and the OCremix community does great work. |

OCRemix is a great community because of the quality of members.
The average member of OCR has several thousands of dollars worth of music gear, and freelances in the music industry and/or is an accomplished musician/composer with released material.
Compare that to the average forum member on most forums, who is 15, complains about $1 MP3 downloads and doesn't know the difference between Wagner and the song from Star Wars.
It also explains the big shock when one of the latter joins the former to ask if their oh so definately legal fruity loops versions can delete vocals from songs. |

I love the old games don't get me wrong. The sprite work is near and dear to my heart.
But I can't front and say that the newer games pretty much dominate them in all aspects if you look at them objectively and not with the ole rosey hued goggles of nostalgia.
For the record, I think that FFX has the best battle system of any game in the main series. _________________

I seriously want them to make another one with just the basic system again. _________________ http://www.myspace.com/jacelegend |
