Some of you may be interested in what Sony had to say about the battery life of the PSP.

Sony having problems with a first generation piece of their technology?!

I do not believe this, it cannot be true!

It's too bad, the PSP is a sexy bit of tech and I look forward to getting one. I can't imagine what types of problems can (will) pop up in the first few batches.

The funniest part is that to get the battery life to extend you have to turn off all the cool things that make it better then the GBA. Plus the part about no streaming of the CD seems really lame to me.

oh, boo-hoo! sony is a bunch of liars! they stink! we need battery life!
seriously, who cares? with an internal chargable battery, it's really not that bad.

besides that, the PSP will be perfect for importers like me because it's going to be region-free.

Region free is awesome, I love that.

But the whole thing with a portable system, is that its portable so you can take it places with you while playing it at the same time. Kinda defeats the purpose of playing the PSP on a 10 hour trip if you can only play it for two of those hours.

Fer the record, it won't make much difference to me because I'll be playing it at home anyway, and plugged in if need be.

also keep in mind that sony is still working on it, too.

The SCE boss was adamant, however, that the battery life problem would be solved in future - telling the interviewer that "in the future, we'd like a single charge to last for a flight between Narita [Tokyo] and New York" - a fourteen hour trip."

so dont get your panties in a knot quite yet.

that's "in the future" IE not the PSP that will be launching in a month in Japan

that means in 2 years there will be a PSP + with a battery life that is actually worthwhile

when that comes out thats when Ill get a PSP

Yeah, so far the DS is shaping up to be a million times better IMO than the PSP. And by this I am of course comparing Metroid Hunters to Metal Gear Ac!d. [shudders]
