And PS3 I think.

And regarding the Sex Pistols, Glenn Matlock turned 51 two days ago (meaning my dad and him are about a month apart, age wise), and for some reason he's not playing bass on the new Pretty Vacant. Thats too bad, but I suppose it'll keep it accurate, Steve Jones most likely played the bass for the song on "Never Mind The Bollocks..." anyway.

I want zombie Sid Vicious in on this. It's not like he didn't used to be a zombie before he died anyway...

LOL, zombie Vicious... Very Happy

He still wouldn't be playing bass on the studio recordings, I'm told by many a source that all the bass on "Never Mind" was pretty much Steve Jones.

He was not what you would call a talented musician.

He was not what you'd call A musician.

Period.

But, I suppose he was important in his own way. Nothing like an especially messy breakup incident to propell a band into legendary status.

Seriously, if your band is famous, have someone in the band die and then break up. You will officially be musical legends!!!

It worked for Hendrix, Nirvana, the Sex Pistols, Sublime, etc.

I call it the bottle rocket method. You shoot straight to the top, then BOOM, you're gone. The surviving members are now set for life.

I guess the Beatles and the Doors don't count because they were really famous before a member died (Beatles had already split up even), though you could say that of Nirvana and Hendrix too.

Still, that's some of the finest history of music right there:

The Beatles
Jimi Hendrix Experience
The Doors
The Sex Pistols
Nirvana

I forgot about the Doors, they would definitely qualify.

The bottle rocket method only works if the person dies while the band is still around.

Or, I suppose, immediately after the band breaks up, just to make things messier.

Either way, its guaranteed to give your audience a real "you don't know what you got till its gone" kind of moment, ensuring that your fame level will rise sky high in short order.

As far as "Is it better to burn than fade away?", I've often thought about that question with music, since some of the stuff I listen to and totally love comes from bands that only put out one or two albums before disappearing (the Sex Pistols, the Rezillos, the X-ray Spex, the Hippos, Tuuli, the Sonics, the Prissteens, Radio Birdman). I think its easier to place greater importance on the one or two albums any of those bands put out because thats the only music you have from them. When its all you have, you cherish it more, you pay closer attention to it, you really make sure you get the most out of it. Those albums ususally weren't perfect, but you still listen to the lesser songs just because you only have those few songs.

Now, if you look at my favorite band ever, the Ramones, they have 14 albums to their name. They were a great band, incredibly influential, and I have litteraly dozens upon dozens of good songs from them to enjoy. I don't look at all their albums as closely as I look at "Never Mind The Bollocks..." and I think the reason why is because I have tons of great Ramones songs, only a dozen or so from the Sex Pistols.

So which is better? Well, you can have more songs or you can have songs that mean more.

I think the Ramones would probably be even more legendary if they had a huge and messy public break up after they recorded with Phil Spector, but if that happened, you wouldn't get all those cool songs that came after that 5th album.

It might have been better for them as a band to break up early and not soldier on for 20 years, slowly getting worse, but I am glad they kept going so that I can listen to all those later singles and whatever.

And, honestly, I wish the Sex Pistols had hung around longer and given us more songs. But maybe no one would have cared if they did, and I wouldn't have even looked into them if they had.

Burn or fade away?

I'd probably take fade away. You might not get noticed as much, but you leave more for your fans to appreciate.

Can you tell I'm into music? Very Happy

Know what I hate?

How release dates mean nothing anymore. The release date for Skate is 9/11. Today is 9/11. So why does nobody fucking have it? Best Buy even says in their fucking ad that they won't have it available until tomorrow. WHY?!? There are reviews up for the game, meaning it is obviously available somewhere.

So what the fuck, guys? Get with the fucking program. I am practically begging these stores to take my money for something they probably have sitting in the fucking stockroom taking up space. I honestly can't believe that there isn't a single store in this entire fucking city that is selling this game on its release date.

Review to come tomorrow evening, when I get a chance to play the fucking game.

Generally the release date is one day BEFORE the actual games hits shelves.

They have to ship it afterall.

I'm assuming its your first encounter with this problem? It ticks me off too, but I found out about that stupid "day later" thing a while ago, so I go to the stores on Wednesday, not Tuesday for my games.

Well they didn't have it until that Friday anywhere. I guess it was moved back?

Anyways, it is sweet. Your missions are either competitions, photo shoots, races, or films. What is cool about the films is that you can start them anywhere. You find a cool spot, and start filming. It'll give you a goal like Get 2000 points, do 3 grinds, and do a 30ft grind. Never anything too difficult, but it is fun to find cool spots to do the shit in.

I already have sponsorships for my deck, wheels, and shoes. Basically, wearing your sponsor's shit will give you extra money for any goals you complete, plus unlock everything that they make for free.

I have to say, their version of S.K.A.T.E. only allows fliptricks and spins, and it is still so incredibly intense and difficult. So much fun though. Honestly, I'd advise this game to most anyone. It is most similar to Thrasher: Skate and Destroy for the ps1, in the way that everything you do in game is possible in real life, unlike some of the Tony Hawk bullshit going around.
